On behalf of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, I would like to welcome all participants and guests of the 10th Russia Power and HydroVision Russia 2012 Conference and Exhibition.

Today the power industry is the core sector of the Russian economy, the key to successful innovation development and improving welfare of the Russian citizens. Our country is one of the largest power markets in the world and every year energy production in Russia continues to grow. At the same time the industry standards and strategic goals continue to widen: introduction of innovative technologies and modernization of infrastructure, implementation of environmentally friendly policies ensuring rational use of natural resources, education and training of personnel, development of a customer-oriented approach. Efficient solution of these goals today will help to increase reliability, efficiency and safety of the power sector in the future.

In order to develop the best practice guidelines for the power industry, recommendations for efficient implementation of new technologies which will improve the quality of energy supply for the consumers, there must be a constant dialogue between public authorities, companies, scientific and professional communities. In the last 10 years Russia Power Conference and Exhibition have established themselves as the leading industry platform for such discussion.

I am confident that during panels and session discussions on the investment attractiveness and industry's technological developments the participants of the Conference will determine the main future directions of power sector. Now in its second year, HydroVision Russia is a dedicated conference and exhibition for the hydroelectric power industry. It addresses the challenges, issues and advancements associated with hydro energy production, maintenance and technology.
